Find your customers in your bank lines

Payers who have sent you money more than once are grouped from your imported bank lines, so customers exist without typing them. Marketplace payouts (Amazon, Walmart and the like) are settlement income, not customers, and are left out.

Payers who send you money again and again are grouped for you, marketplace payouts aside. Create a customer from one, or link it to a customer you have, and every receipt from it is tagged.

Steps

  1. Open Bank transactions and choose Review customers in the notice, or Customers in your bank lines on Customers.

    Open in the app

  2. For each payer, choose Add customer, or Link to one you already have.

  3. Pick the account its receipts usually go to, so later receipts are tagged and wait for you to post.

  4. Choose Not a customer for refunds from suppliers, loans and the like.

Check it worked

The customer's receipts on Bank transactions show it as the payer. If you picked an account, a rule named "Received from" the customer is on Categorization rules: a later receipt is tagged with the customer when it arrives, and waits for you to post it. Payers you marked Not a customer are not listed again, and are still offered as suppliers if you also pay them.
