Review and reverse journal entries

A journal entry is one balanced posting in your books: its debits equal its credits. Settlements, bank imports, opening balances and manual journals each post one.

Every posting in your books is a journal entry. A posted entry is never edited: to correct one, reverse it and post it again.

Before you start

Steps

  1. Open Journal entries under Accounting to see every posting, newest first.

    Open in the app

  2. Filter by source or status, or open an entry to see its lines.

  3. To undo a mistake, open the entry and choose Reverse. A mirror entry cancels it, and both stay on the ledger. Settlement entries follow the marketplace report, so they have no Reverse.

  4. To book anything that does not post on its own, choose New journal entry, add lines whose debits equal their credits, and post it.

    Open in the app

  5. To move money between your own accounts, such as paying a card bill from the bank, choose New transfer. It books one entry that shows on both accounts.

    Open in the app

Check it worked

The reversed entry shows the Reversed status and names the entry that reversed it. The new mirror entry is listed as Posted, on the same date, with the debits and credits swapped.
