Glossary

Every term the product explains in a help tip, a column header or a report panel, in the same words it uses on screen.

A

Account register

One account's postings over a range, with the account's balance after each one, so you can trace how it reached its closing balance.

Account-wide ACoS

This cut has no per-row link to your ad spend, so ACoS is shown for the whole account instead — the table's ACoS column is hidden here.

Accrual basis

Counts marketplace sales and fees on the day they happened, and everything else on its own date.

ACoS

What you spent on ads as a share of the sales they drove directly. Ads run at a loss once ACoS climbs past your margin.

Actual profit

Profit calculated with the fees the marketplace actually charged you, once they're settled.

Ad spend

What you spent on advertising this period, before it comes off net profit. It sits on the marketplace's ad day, not your timezone.

Advertising fee

What you spent on ads for this item, attributed back to the order it helped sell.

B

Balance sheet

What the business owns, owes and keeps for its owners on one date. Assets equal liabilities plus equity when your books balance.

Brand-inherited cost

No cost was set on the product itself, so this falls back to the cost you set on the product's brand.

Breakdown total

Total = Shipped + Pending + Cancelled

C

Cash basis

Counts marketplace sales and fees on the payout day, and everything else on its own date.

Cash flow statement

Why your cash moved over a range. It starts from net income, then splits the rest into operating, investing and financing activity.

Catalog coverage

How many of your active products carry a value for this product label — always the whole catalog, never a report window.

Clearing

Holds a settlement payout between the marketplace paying it and the money reaching your bank account.

Cost file

This cost came from a cost file you uploaded or we collected for you, so it is measured rather than taken from your catalog.

Currency gain or loss

The gain or loss from converting this order's fees into your base currency.

D

Difference

The statement ending balance minus the cleared balance. It reaches zero when every line on your statement is ticked.

E

Estimated fee rate

A modeled rate calculated from your own settled fees, used only until the marketplace reports the real one.

Estimated profit

Profit before ad spend, still resting on our fee estimates, from the orders the marketplace has not settled yet.

Estimated profit

Profit recalculated with our own fee estimates instead of the marketplace's, so you have a figure before fees settle.

F

Fees

The marketplace fees charged against this period — referral, fulfillment, storage, and more — combined into one total.

Financial-events estimate

A preliminary fee figure from the marketplace's financial-events feed, reported for your order before settlement finalizes it.

Fulfillment fee

What the marketplace charges to pick, pack, and ship this order on your behalf.

G

General ledger

Every posting in your books over a range, by account: opening balance, postings, and closing balance.

Gross sales

Your total sales for this period, before fees, cost of goods, ad spend, and refunds are subtracted.

H

Healthy

This metric sits in the range we consider healthy for this report.

Host fingerprint

Pins the server's identity so a swapped-out server is refused rather than trusted. Leave it blank unless the partner gave you one.

L

Long-term storage fee

An extra charge the marketplace adds once your inventory sits in its warehouse past a set age.

M

Manual

Authored from this console. The seeder never touches it, however it compares to the schedule it publishes.

Margin

Net profit as a share of your total sales for this period.

Marketplace facilitator tax

Sales tax the marketplace collects and pays to the state for you. You record it, but you never owe it.

Marketplace receivable

Holds what a marketplace owes you for each day of sales and fees until it pays the settlement out.

Mixed cost sources

Parts of this cost came from different places — some measured from a cost file, some taken from your catalog.

N

Needs attention

This metric has moved far enough from healthy that it's worth investigating now.

Net income this year

This calendar year's income less expenses up to the date shown. It counts as equity without being posted.

Net profit

What you kept after fees, cost of goods, ad spend, and refunds are subtracted from your sales.

No fee data

No marketplace fee data has arrived yet, not even an estimate. Profit is shown with zero fees, so it reads too high.

O

One basis

Each entry counts when earned or incurred, so closing cash matches the balance sheet. Opening balances are starting cash, not activity.

Opening balance equity

The equity account that takes the other side of every opening balance, so each one still posts a balanced entry.

Order-charges estimate

A preliminary fee estimate the marketplace attaches to your order, before it reports the settled amount.

Orders synced through

The day this feed has walked up to. Anything the marketplace recorded past that point has not been imported yet.

Other fee

A marketplace fee that doesn't fit any category we track separately for you.

P

Paid by

Who paid the customer's refund, as Walmart reports it. Expected: Walmart hasn't taken it from a payout yet.

Partial settlement

Profit calculated with a mix of settled and estimated fees — part of this figure has settled, part could still change.

Passive mode

Lets this app open the data connection instead of the server calling back. Leave it on unless the partner says otherwise.

Payables by age

What you owe each supplier, grouped by how many days past its due date each bill is. Current is not yet due.

Product cost

This cost came from the product's own cost in your catalog, as it stood on the day the order sold.

Profit and loss

Your income less your expenses over a range, from your books. Net income counts every expense, cost of goods sold included.

Profit basis

How settled a row's underlying fee data is, from fully settled to no fee data reaching it yet.

Promotional rebate

A discount the marketplace funded on your behalf, deducted from what you're paid.

R

Realized FX gain or loss

The difference an exchange rate makes between when a sale is booked and when it is paid out in your currency.

Receivables by age

What each customer owes you, grouped by how many days past its due date each invoice is. Current is not yet due.

Referral fee

The marketplace's commission for selling your item, charged as a share of the sale price.

Refund administration fee

What the marketplace keeps from its own commission when it processes your refund.

Refunded (part of Shipped)

Refunded orders stay inside Shipped, so your total never counts them twice.

Refunds on the day they happened

A refund counts on the day it landed — that same shirt shows the sale on Aug 20 and the refund on Sep 10.

Refunds on the order's day

A refund counts against the day its order sold — a shirt sold Aug 20 and refunded Sep 10 shows $0 on Aug 20.

Retained earnings

Profit from earlier years kept in the business: what is posted here plus those years' income less expenses.

Return-processing fee

What the marketplace charges to receive and process your customer's return.

ROI

Net profit as a multiple of what the goods cost you. Margin measures against sales, ROI against cost.

Root folder

The folder every path on this connection is read from. Leave it blank to start wherever the login lands.

S

Save without verifying

Saves the details without dialling the server. Use it when the partner hasn't opened access yet — nothing confirms they work.

Scope

Whether this override replaces the marketplace default for every product you sell, or only for the one product shown.

Seeded

Published from git by MarketplaceFeeRateSeeder and reapplied on every deploy — edit the seeder to change it, not this screen.

Settled fee

The fee amount the marketplace actually charged you, reported once its settlement report closes.

Settled profit

Profit before ad spend, from the orders whose fees have fully settled. Settled plus Estimated, less ad spend, is the day’s net profit.

Shipping collected

What the customer paid you for shipping, counted as income on this order.

Shipping commission

The marketplace's cut of the shipping the customer paid you. It only counts against you once your own postage cost is known.

Shipping cost

What you actually paid a carrier to ship this order.

Storage fee

The marketplace's charge for holding your inventory in its warehouse.

T

TACoS

Ad spend as a share of all sales, ad-driven or not. Rising TACoS while sales grow means ads are carrying more of your growth.

Timeout

How long a run waits for this server before giving up. Raise it only for a server you know is slow to answer.

Total

Sums every row in the selected period and filters, not only the rows on this page. Hover a figure for how it breaks down.

Total

Sums every row, not only this page, and each row counts only its own items: an order with items in two rows counts in both. The headline above counts each order once, so the two can differ.

Trial balance

Every account's balance on one date, each in its debit or credit column. The two totals match when your books balance.

U

Unlinked ad spend

Ad spend on ad items not linked to a product. It is still in your totals; link the item to a product to move it there.

Use SSL (FTPS)

Encrypts a plain FTP connection. Turn it on only if the partner runs FTPS — an ordinary FTP server refuses it.

W

Watch

This metric has drifted outside the healthy range — worth watching, not yet urgent.

What is COGS?

COGS (cost of goods sold) is what you paid for a unit — including inbound shipping, duties, and per-unit fees.

What the bar divides

Each slice is a share of the figure above; together they account for all of it. Unlinked listings sit outside — nothing is misstated.

Where this label appears

Where a label appears: as a column on Products, in reports, both, or neither — each is switched independently.
